DESIGN SAN FRANCISCO 2012
February 1-3
Design San Francisco 2012 is the premiere annual event for design professionals. If there is one theme that unifies this year’s keynote addresses – and many of our seminars and workshops – it’s the theme of change. Our three keynote speakers are all outstanding examples of just how much can be accomplished by embracing change:
TRINA TURK, a luminary first in fashion and now in interior design reveals how her
career in fashion has informed and inspired her exuberant indoor and outdoor home
fabrics and accessories.
KEITH GRANET, heads Granet & Associates, a management consulting firm for the
design industry. Keith talks frankly with designers Michael Booth and Douglas Durkin
about their experiences being “transitioned” from large interior design firms to
venturing out on their own.
MICHELA O’CONNOR ABRAMS, founder and publisher of the iconic design
magazine, Dwell, moderates a panel of cutting-edge interior designers who
are harnessing the power of social media to grow their client base, define their
brand and get their ideas published. Thank you so much for joining us. We hope
this year’s Design San Francisco will inspire change in you too – and help you
achieve new levels of creativity and professional success.

HAUTE DOG | SF – A RUNWAY FASHION SHOW
Friday, February 3, 2012
5:30 – 8:30 PM
SFDC Galleria Atrium

On February 3rd, 2012, fashion history will be made. San Francisco’s most
fashionable pooches will strut their stuff on the catwalk, (or is it dogtrot?)
as they showcase couture outfits designed specifically for them by some of the
Bay Area’s most prominent interior designers, and with oh-so-fabulous fabrics
provided by the fabric showrooms of the SFDC. Trust us, you’ll be howling with
delight at the antics of these doggie fashionistas. Canine obsessives and
fanatics will be able to Posh Pup Lane, an emporium of doggie delights featuring
unique canine products, services, specialties and gift items for the pooch who
has everything.
To cap it off, a Silent auction will feature doggie experiences never before
witnessed in the annals of Dogdom. Be a bold bidder as we support Canine
Companions for Independence (cci.org), the event’s official charity and an organization
that provides highly-trained assistance dogs for children and adults with
disabilities, free of charge.
If you’re a dog lover, as we are, and believe in the power of a dog’s ability to
transform the lives of disabled children, adults and veterans, please join us in
a fun and festive event MC’d by Wilkes Bashford to welcome Canine Companions for
Independence to San Francisco. As our friends at CCI would say, “Help is a
four-legged word™.
This event is complimentary for Design professionals, please RSVP to rsvp@sfdesigncenter.com.
Non-design professionals may go
here to
purchase a ticket for $15. Sponsored by 7×7 magazine and the Luxury
Marketing Council of San Francisco.

Khrome Studios Relocates
Khrome Studios is pleased to announce the addition of its newest showroom at the
SFDC, Showplace 305. This new location provides Khrome Studio’s dedicated staff
a larger space (an additional 2700 sq. feet) and is right off the third floor
elevator meaning easier access and higher visibility to display its unique,
contemporary home furnishings. Gioi Tran from the San Francisco based design
firm Applegate Tran is leading the showroom design and build-out. Everyone at
Khrome Studios and Applegate Tran is thrilled to be working on this
collaboration.

After making a lateral market move with her Direct Designs Home business in
1991, by converting operations to sell directly to designers and architects, Ms.
McMullen learned anything was possible. “We have a passion for design, and over
the years we have tried everything, from a ‘lab-rat area’, where the furniture
wouldn’t sell no matter what we did to it; to a ‘goosebump showcase’ named for
that particular sensation I had when I saw something I loved”, said McMullen.
This passion has evolved to what is now Khrome Studios’ unique Euro-style lines
and private label modern collections that will be on display at this new
designer showroom. For more information about Khrome Studios go here.
