American Decorative Arts Forum: “California Design: Living in the Modern Way, 1930-1965”


On Tuesday, December 13, 2011, the American Decorative Arts Forum would very much like to be on your December 2011 calendar and events list for this very special upcoming event by Wendy Kaplan, Department Head and Curator of Decorative Arts and Design at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.  (The American Decorative Arts Forum is an affiliate of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.)

 Time Details: 8:00 PM; Mini-exhibit at 7:15 PM from private collections (Modernist furniture and decorative objects, such as bowls, tiles, ceramics, and clothing from 1930 – 1965).

Venue:  Koret Auditorium, de Young Museum

Lecturer:  Wendy Kaplan graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in American Civilization, followed by a Master’s Degree from the Winterthur program in Early American Culture. She has held curatorial positions at the Wolfsonian-Florida International Universityin Miami; the Glasgow Museums in Scotland (not coincidentally the city of Charles Rennie Mackintosh); and the Museum of Fine  Arts, Boston. Ms Kaplan has been, since 2001, the department head and curator of Decorative Arts and Design at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
